March

March was a fun and exciting month for the children in the Acorn Room. We visited Carey's Farm and learned all about life on the farm. We enjoyed some lovely treats at the end of our visit and we also received a lovely gift bag to bring home. Thank you to the Carey family for the warm welcome we received. Thank you also to Olive O' Loughlin and 'Bobby the Lamb' who popped in for a visit and who gave all the children some delicious treats. We thoroughly enjoyed 'Wellbeing Week'. Thank you to Ms. Blake and the Student Council for organising this. We enjoyed some walks and story time outside. We made pots with a special treat for Mother's Day. We painted and decorated shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day and eggs for Easter. We enjoyed an Easter treasure hunt on the last day of the term and we were delighted when we brought home some yummy treats. Happy Easter!

Integrated Learning Through Play

Our 'Integrated Learning Through Play' theme for March was 'Gardening'. Stations included socio-dramatic, creative, real world, sand/water, construction and literacy. The children painted and made Spring flowers with playdough. They constructed and designed their own garden centres, planted seeds and looked after the school garden. Thank you to Ms. Greaney and Margaret who facilitated this each morning. We also had a literacy station in our classroom and children were invited to cut, glue, write and draw about the theme.

February

February was another busy month in the Acorn Room. We enjoyed looking for signs of Spring. We are continuing with 'Show & Tell' every Friday and we are working on a different sound every week. We are enjoying maths games with the children from the Oak Room every Friday. Thank you to Peter and Christian who facilitated a robotic workshop. Thank you to Cathy for making delicious pancakes for Pancake Tuesday. We made lenten promises on Ash Wednesday and Rita O' Dwyer visited the school for a prayer service. Thank you Rita!
