We had a very busy month in the Acorn Room since returning to school after the summer holidays. We had free play and circle time every morning. We enjoyed catching up on the class news and learning about Jolly Phonics. We also worked on fine motor activities including cutting, play dough, jigsaws, peg boards and pencil control exercises. We used the tablets during literacy stations and we used lots of concrete materials for Maths. We drew self portraits using a mirror and we designed posters all about ourselves. We listened to 'The Rainbow Fish' and we discussed the importance of sharing and taking turns. We then made our very own rainbow fish. We were very excited when Theresa Clancy visited our classroom with a bat. We started Reading Buddies with the children in the Sycamore and Oak Rooms and this will continue every Monday. We started Show & Tell and Golden Time and this will continue every Friday. We also started GAA coaching with Aaron Ryan on Tuesdays. 'Travelling Ted', our class teddy went on lots of adventures with the children and he is looking forward to many more over the coming year. Congratulations to our six new Junior Infants who started school. We are so proud of how well they settled in.
